“Queer” kavramı ve kuramı neye işaret ediyor? Cinsiyet kimliğini ve cinsel yönelimi anlamak için bize nasıl araçlar sunuyor ? Buradan hareketle nasıl bir siyasete kapı aralıyor? Bu yazıda kısaca ve giriş niteliğinde, bu sorularla ilgili okumalarımı ve görüşlerimi paylaşmayı umuyorum. Burada özellikle altını çizmeye çalıştığım nokta, queer bir kuram ve tahayyül ile LGBTİ merkezli kimlik politikaları arasındaki farktır. Çünkü queer, kimliği temel almayan bir siyaset önerisidir. Cinsiyetli, sabit ve istikrarlı bir özneden hareket etmez ve ötekinin tanınması üzerinden işlemez. Daha ziyade tekil bedenler arasındaki indirgenemez farkı ve etkileşimi temel alır. Bu görüşe göre, bir bedenler “çokluğu”, onları normal veya anormal olarak inşa eden rejimlere karşı çıkar; onları belirli bir okunabilirlik ve kavranabilirlik çerçevesi içine sıkıştıran, adlandıran ve sınıfl andıran (bilimsel) dilden, (bedensel) teknolojilerden taşar, onları zorlar, bozar, dönüştürür, saptırır. Bedenlerin siyasetin merkezine çekildiği bu perspektifte, politikleşme olasılığının belirli bir kimliğe bağlanması iyi ihtimalle sınırlayıcı, fakat son kertede imkânsızdır. Bunun yerine queer, bulunduğumuz konumu, olduğumuz kişiyi tarihsel bir kavşak, bir kesişim noktası gibi alan, bu noktanın değişmezliğini değil olumsallığını vurgulayan, politik eylemi de onunla zorunlu bir ilişki içinde tasavvur etmeyen bir perspektif sunar.

What does “queer” point to as a concept and a theory? What kind of tools does it provide to understand gender and sexuality? What sort of politics does it imply? In this paper, I hope to share briefl y some readings and thoughts as an introduction to these questions and issues. The main point I try to underline here is the diff erence between the non-identitarian political stance of queer theory and the politics centered on LGBTI identities. Queer theory does not start off with a presumably gendered, consistent and permanent subject and does not work through the recognition of the “other”. Rather, it rests upon the non-reducible diff erence and interaction between singular bodies. According to this view, a “multitude” of bodies resists regimes (discursive or otherwise) that construct them as normal or abnormal; deviates, transforms and transgresses the (scientific) language and (bodily) technologies that name and classify them, that squeeze them into a grid of intelligibility. Once bodies are brought to the center of politics as such, identity politics appears, at best, limiting but eventually impossible. Instead, a queer perspective thinks of political action as not necessarily based on identity positions, and sees the latter as historical junctions, emphasizing intersectionality and contingency.
