Bilginin üretimi bakımından din ve tıp örtüşmez görünmektedir, hatta bu mücadeleler kadim bir meseledir. İnsan bedenini bilme biçimleri konusunda ayrışmalarına rağmen, kimi zaman birlikte simgesel bir siyaset üzerine uzlaşabilmektedirler. Bu bağlamda son on beş yılda dünyada hızlıca gelişen helal tıp piyasası, tıbbın ve dinin ayrışmasındaki dönüşüme güncel ve verimli bir örnektir. Bu çalışma, helal tıp piyasasına konu olan materyallerin üretim-tüketiminin toplumsal iktidar ilişkilerinin ve tıbbi kategorilerin bir yansıması olup, olmadığını incelemektedir. Bu tartışmayı materyal kültürün beden ve toplumsal iktidar ilişkileri eksenindeki kuramsal dayanakları ve Türkiye’de helal piyasasındaki aktörlerin söylem ve eylemlerini ortaya koyarak tartışmayı amaçlamaktadır.

Religion and medicine are not seem to overlap regarding production of knowledge, in addition, this challenge of them is an archaic matter. Even though religion and medicine separate concerning the viewpoint on body, sometimes they comprise on a symbolic politics. In this context, during the last fifteen years, “the halal medicine market” that developed rapidly worldwide is a current and fruitful example for the transformation of in the separation of medicine and religion. This study examines whether production and consumption of materials which are in the helal medicine market is a refl ection of social power relations and medical categories or not. It aims to debate with revealing theoretical sources which exist in the context of body and social power relations of material culture, and actors’ discourses and activities in the Turkey helal market.
